Teagan Wilford, Jessica Hancock and Kesley Effield will compete for the prestigious title which will be awarded at the annual Milton Show on the weekend of March 3 and 4.
The three candidates are thrilled to have the opportunity to represent their local community.
“I am a teacher and I want to show my students it is important to enter things in the local community,” Ms Hancock said.
“I am very passionate about the show, I have always been involved in it and I love it,” Ms Wilford said.
“It provides a good opportunity to get out, meet new people and get involved in the community,” Ms Effield said.
The Showgirl Competition aims to find a young woman to represent the local rural and business community and act as an ambassador for rural New South Wales.
“The aim is to find a person most suited to represent the young rural women of her local area,” Milton Showgirl coordinator Judy Armitt said.
“It is not a beauty pageant. Entrants should have a genuine interest in rural New South Wales and the involvement of women in their local community.”
The contestants are judged on their personality, confidence, ambition and life goals, general knowledge, rural knowledge, presentation and speech.
“Being a Showgirl means being involved in your local show; presenting prizes, sashing livestock, speaking with media and being in the public eye,” Judy said.
“The presentation of the Showgirl entrants in the main arena is a major attraction to our show. But, prior to this magnificent, spectacular event we have the Show Girl Presentation Night on February 4.”
The night will see the three finalists introduced to the show judges, the community, family and friends.
The event will be held at Mollymook Hilltops Golf Club, 6:30pm for a 7pm start. Tickets are $55 and can be purchased at Milton Village Florist.
