“We are well ahead of schedule,” a very proud Lions Ulladulla District Community Foundation (LUDCF) president Brian Thompson said.
After signing the construction contract with Hotondo Homes on June 16 Mr Thompson said it was full steam ahead.

“The slab wasn’t meant to be poured for about a week, but here we are with the framework up and brickwork started too,” he said.
“Once the brickwork and cladding is complete the roof can go on. Then it’s all guns blazing from there on because it means they can get inside the property and get everything completed. Once we are at lockup stage it will all come together very quickly.”
Mr Thompson said the need for disability respite care in the Milton-Ulladulla region became evident to the community and resulted in amazing support.
“The community has backed it financially and we are ahead of schedule simply because Hotondo can see the benefits in the end result,” he said.
“We thank The Times for the publicity they have given to this, because it has been phenomenal and it has caused the community to gather round to support us.”

For 13 years Jindelara Services Inc president Alison Wade has been campaigning for the project and cannot believe her dream is becoming a reality.
“It’s a bit like winning the lottery – something you never thought would happen, but it has,” she said.
“It’s very exciting, not just for me, but for all of the families who are going to use it.”
Once the build is complete, Jindelara Services Inc will rent the facility from the LUDCF.
“We are going to rent the property from the foundation,” Mrs Wade said.
“They are going to charge us $1 a year for the rent, for 35 years, with the option to take another 35 years.
“This will help us to make the house available to as many people as we can, without having to worry about the costs of running it, or renting it.”
Mr Thompson said the committee hope the facility will be open by Christmas.
