It was the perfect mix of good weather, fun activities and competition for the Milton Show on the weekend.
For the first time in five years, the weather was perfect, Milton Show display pavilion chief steward Shirley Coleman said.
We had one that was terribly hot and two that were very wet. It was been about five years since we had perfect weather," she said.
“I don’t remember a happier show. It was a happy, successful show and I just loved it.
“I went to my first Milton Show when my eldest son was about 6, he is now 59. I’ve had 53 years at the show and I think this is the happiest one. Everyone seemed so happy.”
Mrs Coleman said it was the “best display pavilion” the show has had in many years. She said the number of patrons was also up.
“When I was dragging myself home on Saturday, people were still pouring through the gates for the night events,” Mrs Coleman said.
“Everything was just so interesting. We had the cheese butter and meat demonstrations, which were exciting.
“The top pavilion was absolutely glorious. The stuff there was just incredible. We have a very talented district.
“Bill Whitby and his bonsai were fascinating. He spent two full days talking to people about how to set up a bonsai.
“The men’s woodwork was great and the quilts were amazing.”
Show Society vice president Robyn Miller said it was a “very successful show”.
“Everyone seemed to be happy and enjoying themselves,” she said.
“It was very well attended. Lots of kids had fun in the kids zone and at the animal nursery.
“The utes were fantastic and very present in the show. They were well decorated.
“The poultry were all stars down there. The new commercial beef section on Saturday was a hit. We are looking forward to everyone being involved next year.
“The poetry went well as well.”
