Busy week this week! Tuesday October 16, President Cheryl wished Barbara Young a very happy 80th birthday for Wednesday, October 17. Barbara is currently the District Vice President and her calendar was too full for the ladies to put on a celebratory luncheon as is our tradition. We all hope Barbara enjoyed her day. Nice to see Jane Hawkins and Krishna Curran back after a short break.
The ladies took to the greens under sunny skies and the players managed to have some team practice for the upcoming Sussex Shield which was to be played on Thursday. Rink winners were Carmen Colusso, Krishna Curran, Bev Berkery and Jo Cattley, the runners up were Lorna Sparke, Toni Hanley and Kath Fraser. Helen Bamford won two raffle prizes and Jo Cattley the other.
On Thursday, October 18, we set out to win back the Sussex Inlet/Milton Ulladulla Shield. President Cheryl welcomed the six teams from Sussex Inlet, inviting them to enjoy morning tea with us before going out to battle. The team managers Kay Hodge, Milton Ulladulla and Pat Thomas, Sussex Inlet then read the cards, Cheryl Davies was the umpire. All rinks enjoyed a great day of bowls and as is the tradition the final score was close. Of the six rinks each club shared the honours with three rink wins each. The Big Board showed Milton Ulladulla 123 and Sussex Inlet 108; MILTON ULLADULLA regained the shield, looking forward to defending it next year at the Sussex Club. The Committee ran a 100 club and raffle and once again the honours were shared evenly between visitors and hosts. The winning Milton Ulladulla Rink was the team of Kath Fraser, Toni Hanley, Lorna Sparke and Di Rupp, the winning Sussex Inlet team was June O’Keefe, Bev Rouse, Ruth Mackay and De Todd. President Ann Trudgett thanked President Cheryl for hosting such a great day and congratulated all players on the fantastic way the two clubs come together for the Shield Day and also look forward to wrestling it back from us next year.
Not to be forgotten the social rink winners were Jasma Stallion, Glenyce Pendlebury, Marcia Leahy.
Sunday October 21 saw the first rounds of the Club Mixed 4s. The games were played in lovely conditions after quite heavy rain the night before. The results saw the team of Rob Cattley, Jo Cattley, Roz Jamieson and Col Jamieson def Ian Fraser, Kath Fraser, Di Rupp and John Power; the team of Jim Neale, Dennis Olgilvie, Jan winter and Sandra Crimmins def Doreen Dickson, Ralda Graham, Ron Amos and Mick Sawicki. This sets the coming weekend up for some good bowls between the teams skipped by Eric Bell, Glen Hodge, Rob Cattley and Jim Neale. Semi final on Saturday and final on Sunday.

VALE: It is with great sadness that life member Barry Pannowitz passed away suddenly last Tuesday. Our thoughts are with his wife Dot and family.
The Club Ltd AGM was held 9am last Saturday, only changes being one new face on the board, namely Peter Crowe.
The Club Fours championship continues in spurts towards the semi-final with the McGuire team defeating the Brand team 24/12, Tuesday 16th. Saturday's two games started a bit early in an attempt to finish before the forecast storm. Barry Webb substituted for Croc Dundas in the Kerry Jones team, all had to play well to be just 18/15 ahead before the storm hit & they adjoined permanently to the club house to dry out. The Al Wynter team leading 21/17 & the Jarvis team also stopped after 17 ends, deciding to wait out the storm. But to no avail for Andrew's lot when 22/18 behind after the 18th, a desperate attempt to recover resulted in a five against them. Hopefully next Saturday the semi-final will take place.
Good news for the nominated triples on Wednesday, the $400 jackpot went off! John Wilton, Peter Champion & Barry Webb had a +6 magin win over Terry Hill, Brandley & Gary Allen with whom they generously shared. Your scribe felt that he contributed well to the win by putting down a "wrongun" on the last end. New member Mike Hayes was welcomed as were visitors Joe lapinski & Bob Boyd. Fridays Open pairs is getting exciting with the jackpot at $880 last Friday. Again it eluded the bowlers, especially Ted & Bina Fraser hoping to win it again. Snow Dillon & Wayne Manning took out the regular $120 prize with 10 points, the KENO to Al Wynter & Chris Machon.
Roadrunners
We had 22 bowlers for our social bowls last Sunday. Three games of triples and one pairs game were played with the following results: Alan Hayman, Gordon Lang and Paul Barnes 18 overcame Doug Broad, Geoff Travis/Roy Booth and Brian Thurecht 15, welcome back Geoff. Brian Lambert, Robin Oke and Peter Champion 25 chased down Wendy Lynn, Val Brady and Trish Moy 19, welcome back Trish. Rob Bloor, Dan Prestage and David Henry 27 outplayed Bob Field, Jeff Deal and Bob Brooks 16. Harry Williams and Ted Fraser 15 held off Graham Corby and Craig Lees 14.
The team of Rob Bloor, Dan Prestage and David Henry won the winning rink and the fresh chickens while the loosing rink of Doug Broad, Geoff Travis/Roy Booth and Brian Thurecht got half their green fees back.
Raffle winners included: Harry Williams, Craig Lees, Dan Prestage, Alan Hayman, Ted Fraser and Elaine from behind the bar.
It is with much regret that we say farewell to an old Roadrunner, Barry Pannowitz, who passed away last Thursday. We extend our condolences to Dottie on this sad occasion.
Next Sunday we will be welcoming the RSL bowlers again to show them how to play. The cards will be called for an 9am start and lunch will follow.
Mollymook Beach Women
The Club Fours final was contested recently on a very wet day. The team of Kay Pope, Kerry Machon and Denise Page, skipped by Diane Hill was victorious over Kay Smith, Nola West-Newman, Irene Wilson and were skipped by Tracy Hoult.
The team of Kerry Machon, Doris Blackshaw and Lyn Youren recently played in the District Minor Triples. They made it through to the Final, which was a great effort. Unfortunately they were beaten by a team from Culburra.
Upcoming events:
The annual HHH cup, for Hope, Health and Happinees, will be contested on Thursday, November 8. This is a Major/Minor pairs event, with entries closing on November 1.

Deepest apologies to the angry ant for my omitting of his memorable match in the Alf Green singles, where he played so very well against vice-president Ken Coman but still managed to come out on the wrong side of the ledger, but it was such a noble gesture to let Ken win the game. Other games in the Alf Green were played this week with Rob Cattley having a win over a very courageous John Ruggiero, and Paul Collins getting up over Ross Kidson. A few things coming up in the next couple of weeks; Melbourne Cup day bowls 10am mixed triples, then two course lunch if you so desire, sweeps, then watch the race; we need names to go up on the board who desire to play pennants next year- we need a lot more if we are looking at filling four grades; and don’t forget an early reminder for our presentation night on Saturday, November 24.
Results for the week:- Wed. social:- winners:-Bill Harris/ Graham Cooper/ Bruce Hathaway; runners up:- Simon Read/ Rob Morton/ Jim Neale.
Fri. social:- overall winners:- Shaun Hull/ Eric Bell 2 wins +17; runners up:- Ron Amos/ Mike Sawicki 2 wins +14; 1st game winners:- Dave Chandler/ Paul the Python +6; 2nd game winners:- Graham Robbo/ Rob Cattley +13
