Among the dusky images of city, surf and countryside, judge and photographer Gaynor Robson was taken by the “uniqueness” of Dawn Wood’s image of a moon rising over the water and awarded it Image of the Month.
The beautiful layers, the use of slow shutter speed and the depiction of the moonlight playing on the water all contributed to the appeal of this balanced and dreamy image, camera club Communications Coordinator Anna Rosenzweig said.
Dawn scooped the pool in January, also taking out Image of the Month in the Open competition for her striking portrait of a Great Cormorant. The image shows “excellent technique” in both capture and processing.
Gaynor was impressed too by Brigitte Nairn’s submissions, awarding her merits in both the Theme and Open competitions.
The club’s youngest student member Jade Lanham won her first award, earning honours for an artistic silhouette piece. All the awarded images can be viewed on the Club’s website or Facebook page.
Everyone who attended the January competition meeting was invited to vote in a People’s Choice competition on a Christmas theme. Local photographer Christa Drysdale was the crowd favourite with her angelic and creative image of one of her granddaughters.
Ms Rosenzweig said it was great to see several new faces at the club recently and there are lots of interesting meetings and themes coming up to keep inspiring members and to help them develop their skills.
Meetings commence at 6.30pm at the Milton Ulladulla Bowling Club in St Vincent Street on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Visitors and new members of all skill levels are very welcome.
The Club also has a photography-themed trivia night on Saturday, March 23 at the bowling club, with doors opening at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. Everyone is welcome and invited put together a table or join one on the night for some fun and friendship. For more information call Sandy Lanham on 0413 556 711.
