Shoalhaven City Councillors unanimously carried a motion to install a new cold water self-regulated shower cluster in front of the surf club.
During the ordinary council meeting, held on October 29, Cr Mark Kitchener said the surf club was asking for showers to be installed 30 metres in front of the clubhouse, away from driveways in a prominent location.
The club provided a shower for members to rinse themselves before entering the building at the front of the clubhouse.
Cr Kitchener said the new shower would keep beachgoers away from the clubhouse which was causing confusion during emergencies.
Councillors also unanimously agreed to donate $3,000 from the Unallocated Donations budget to Mollymook Surf Life Saving Club to run the prestigious National ASRL Surfboat Championships during February 2020 and 2021.
"The National ASRL Surfboat Championships attracts 1500 competitors and an anticipated audience of around 10,000. These events are costly to run but attract a large amount of business that benefits many in the area," the motion submitted by Cr Kitchener said.
