The grant came from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal and ANZ Seeds of Renewal 2019 program.
The program provides funds for the purchase of a Waterwatch testing kit and equipment. Waterwatch is a program which helps communities understand water quality issues and how to manage them within catchments, to create healthy waterways and promote the sustainable use of this precious and limited resource.
The Lake Tabourie community is appreciative of this funding from ANZ.
The funding will enable them to undertake monthly testing of some basic physical and chemical parameters.

This information allows us to establish a baseline data set for the lake which will help give a better assessment of ecosystem health as well as aid in the future management of our estuary.
After a slow start to the project due to bushfires and then COVID-19 regular sampling is now being carried out by a small group of Tabourie volunteers.
Volunteers hope that testing will continue for many years so that we can gain information over the many variable lake conditions.
If any other community group is interested in undertaking similar testing of their waterways and would like to know how the Waterwatch program works just drop an email to tabourienews@gmail.com.
