He rose in parliament recently to raise his concerns about the planning for "future education facilities in the Milton Ulladulla area".
The use of the former Shoalhaven Anglican School [SAS] site was mentioned in his speech.
He did declare a conflict of interest as one of his children, Banjo, is getting ready "to start big school next year".
"It [Banjo going to school] has certainly sharpened my mind to some of the issues with education," he said.
Mr Field said the NSW Government's purchase of the SAS site in 2018 has created some frustration in regards to planning around the use of the land.
"I acknowledge that there has been a decision to move the Budawang Special School to that site and this is an important upgrade and expansion that will be that will be very well used and is needed within our region," he said.
"However, parents in the Milton/Ulladulla area remain frustrated that the need for additional education facilities has gone largely unanswered."
Mr Field said in the middle of this year he wrote a letter to the education minister about the issue to outline his concerns.
He also just became aware of just how "substantial enrolments were growing in the region" and how far over "the cap" they were and he then tabled some statistics.
The Milton Public enrolment cap is 555 and in 2021 enrolments were 728 - 173 students over.
At Ulladulla Public, the enrolment cap is 509 and the 2021 enrolments were 749 - 240 over the cap or 47 per cent over the cap.
"Ulladulla High is only 27 over the cap," he added.
"However, you can see what is going to come next here when the primary schools are so far over their cap.
"Across the three schools we have nearly 30 temporary buildings - most of them encroaching on the play area for the kids."
He added similar issues were being felt all over NSW, but is "particularly acute" on the South Coast.
"I was frustrated to get an answer back from the minister saying the department has assessed for the Milton and Ulladulla area and has determined that based on current plans, population projections and existing schools available that potential growth can be serviced with existing assets," he said.
The Independent MP claims the existing assets are not even keeping up with the growth the region has had over the last five years with more growth expected.
"Not enough is being done and the community is asking for the minister to engage with them on a strategic plan for the use of the SAS site," he said.
"I think they have been unsuccessful in getting the attention of the minister up until now."
Mr Field does not want to miss the chance at getting the old SAS site "strategically developed for the best interest of the whole region".
"I support the community group, the Ulladulla Area Schools Expansion Action Group in raising these issues in the house and I ask the government to take more notice," he said.
"There is a desperate need for education facilities in the Milton Ulladulla region."
