Citing the introduction of two emergency department nurse practitioners to assist with an influx of patients over the holiday period, as the catalyst, the GP VMOs say this is the final nail in the coffin.
The group of doctors fears services are being pushed out of the hospital and believe this is further proof Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District is planning to introduce a nurses-first model of care.
Doctors say this model will place patients in grave danger.
