The Bureau released the July monthly climate summary on Wednesday, which showed that many sites across the state recorded the lowest ever rainfall.
Kioloa on the South Coast recorded no rainfall at all during July, which made it the driest July month in the past 58 years.
July 2018 continued a run of seven consecutive months of below average rainfall for the state.
For New South Wales as a whole, it was the fourth-warmest July on record, and the warmest January to July period on record for daytime temperatures.
A new record for the highest July mean daily maximum temperature at 17.9 degrees celsius was set at Ulladulla.
Kiama, Jervis Bay, Nowra and Ulladulla measured their highest temperatures of the month on the 5th and 6th, up to 6 degrees warmer than the mean for July.
While the days were warm, night time temperatures reached the negatives in some parts of the Shoalhaven.
Temperatures fell to 0.7 at Nowra on July 23, 5 degrees cooler than the mean minimum temperature for July.
The coolest night of the month in Ulladulla was also the 23rd, where temperatures fell to 4.6.
The dry July patterns were broken on August 1 however, with rain falling across several parts of the Shoalhaven.
