On September 14 and 15, residents can get involved in fun family events including children's activities, firefighting displays, opportunities to get aboard a fire truck, and see some of their specialist equipment. Importantly they can also get some information and advice on preparing their properties for the bush fire season.
NSW RFS Superintendent Mark Williams said all residents in the Shoalhaven need to be prepared for the bush fire season.
"Already this fire season we have seen more than 2700 bush and grass fires across NSW," Supt Williams said.
"With the vast majority of NSW drought affected and a forecast of ongoing warm and dry conditions, there is the potential for a long and protracted fire season."
Milton RFS will be at Bunnings Ulladulla from 8am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Sussex Inlet RFS will be at Lions Club Peace Park from 7am to 12.30pm on Saturday.
Kioloa will host its event on Sunday, September 22 at the Kioloa Fire Station from 9am to 11am.
Manyana will host its event on Sunday, October 6 at the Manyana Public Hall from 8.30am to 2.30pm.
Bawley Point will host two events. The first is on Saturday, September 28 from 10am to 12pm and on December 8 from 11am to 2pm.
Some brigades may hold Get Ready events on other dates to coincide with local events.
