The question was: how do I opt-in to get $300 as part of this relief package?
Ratepayers who have registered an email address and receive their rates notices electronically should have already received their application form via email, with all other ratepayers to receive the application form with a reply-paid envelope over the next few days.
Ratepayers have the following ways to opt-in for this financial assistance:
- Complete an online form on Council's website https://shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/My-Property/Rates-and-payments/COVID-19-Financial-Relief-Package. Customers will need to provide their property ID to complete this form. This is a unique property identifier that ensures the application is processed correctly. The property ID contains up to six digits and can be found in the top left corner of the rates annual or instalment notice.
- Complete the hard copy application form and return with a reply-paid envelope.
- Complete the application form and email it to council@shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au
- Complete the hard copy application form and bring it to council's Administration Centre in Nowra or Ulladulla during business hours.
- Contact Council's COVID 19 Financial Relief Hotline on P: 4429 5886 and complete with a staff member's assistance.

The relief package was announced at council's ordinary monthly meeting held on Tuesday, May 26..
This program allows ratepayers to opt-in and accesses $300 of financial relief that will apply to their first 2020/21 rates instalment and future water accounts (to be applied across rates, domestic waste, water and sewer charges collectively).
Council CEO Stephen Dunshea confirmed that this funding will be made available in the form of financial relief to ratepayers during this challenging time of COVID 19.
"Council has committed to offering Shoalhaven ratepayers financial support in the form of rates, waste and water account relief, to assist them better manage the financial impacts of COVID 19," he said.
"Along with other relief measures already announced, Shoalhaven City Council has made it a priority to support the community in as many ways as it can during the global pandemic.
"Council wants to help reduce the general stress levels across the region and assist people to better cope with their financial challenges."
Shoalhaven ratepayers must advise Council that they wish to receive this financial relief by opting in for the financial relief by June 30.
