A Steering Group has been established to ensure the safe provision of Level 1 maternity services at MUH.
Once this has been achieved the groups function will shift to oversee the reestablishment of Level 2 birthing services at MUH.
As chairs of the committee it will be the responsibility of ISLHD co-directors of Maternity and Women’s Health Keith Allenby and Melissa Cooke to advise chief executive Margot Mains when they believe the necessary measures have been put in place for birthing services to return.
The Steering Group committee will include: co-directors of Maternity and Women’s Health, Shoalhaven Hospital Group (SHG) General Manager, SHG director of Nursing and Midwifery, MUH director of Nursing, SHG director of Clinical Services, MUH midwife representative, clinical midwife consultant, community representative and divisional support officer – maternity and women’s health.
A Model of Care Group has been established to work under the direction of and report to the Steering Group.
It will be the responsibility of ISLHD Co-Directors of Maternity and Women’s Health to advise when birthing service can return

The Model of Care Group will develop options for care at MUH and provide their recommendations to the Steering Group.
The aim of this group is to provide the local operational knowledge during the process.
The Model of Care Group Committee will include: clinical midwife consultant, SHG acting clinical director Obstetrics and Gynecology, SHG Midwifery Unit manager, GP/VMO representative, clinical midwifery consultant SHG and MUH, two MUH midwife representatives, two community representatives and divisional support officer – maternity and women’s health.
