The Community Connect project aims to build a concrete pathway from Bawley Point to Kioloa.
On Thursday, July 19 the group of young people came together to help their local community by concreting a 60-metre section of pathway, edging closer to the end goal of having a pathway connecting Bawley Point and Kioloa.
School students Wishaya Jansma-Smith, Maisie Staples and Jet Bonne said it was hard work, but rewarding knowing it will contribute to the already existing path network of 3.3 kilometres within the two coastal hamlets.
“All the people there had given up their time to be a part of this ongoing event,” they said.
The youth effort follows two successful all female concrete pours. Both the Kioloa and Bawley Point RFS brigades have also worked hard on the pathway, which has been largely funded by community fundraising and grants.
