The dance was organised to raise funds to support the United Christian Education Foundation (UCEF) at Ulladulla High School.
The foundation, founded by Barrie and Helen Wilford from The Baptist Church, is in its 20th year. The community initiative involves eight churches in the local area, including Anglican, Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian, Seventh-Day Adventist, Salvation Army, Uniting and Highway Christian, with the express purpose of providing scripture classes at the School.
Christian special religious education teacher, Bernie Hughes, teaches four days a week at Ulladulla High and one day at Moruya, and works to a curriculum approved by the NSW Department of Education. Mr Hughes is also involved in many secular aspects of school life, participating in excursions, camps and the like as much as possible. He also plays a part in supporting the school welfare team, as appropriate.
Fr Michael Dyer and parishioners of the Holy Family Catholic Church are proud to be part of this ecumenical endeavour that provides a Christian presence in Ulladulla High School.
On Friday organiser Anne Foster and principal caterers Mary and Greg Davies, were supported by a team of helpers from the parish as well as a variety of local businesses. The band assembled by choir singer Peter Schultz for the evening had everyone dancing the night away.
