Dedications start with celebrating All Saints Day on November 1 and all Souls Day on the November 2.
Traditionally, people visit the graves of their loved ones and share memories of their lives.
As we still feel deeply connected to family and friends who have departed this life, contemplating in the sacred grounds of the cemetery, can bring a certain element of peace.
For Christians, it is also a time to pray that God will free them from their sins, so that they may enter into Heaven.
Although there are many masses offered by St Mary Star of the Sea Milton Parish for the faithful departed during the year and especially during November, Fr Michael Dyer, set aside a day to celebrate mass in the cemetery.
Parishioners were invited to pray for their loved ones and for others who may have no one to pray for them.
If you would like to connect with the Catholic Church to talk about the loss of a family member or friend- we would welcome that- in the first instance please email milton@dow.org.au or call 4455 1313.
