It will be held at the RSL Roo's Club Rooms.
Acting president of the Victor Harbor RSL Kent Johncock said the club members contacted all known present and past WW2 Veterans, plus canvassed all the local Elderly Care Facilities to identify any other WW2 Men and Women Veterans.
"This effort proved successful with a number of Veterans identified and nominated. Our approach was that any and all WW2 Veterans in our area, whether members or not, the Victor Harbor RSL will forward absolute due respect to all and support them all to be able to attend the service," Kent said.
The total number of WW2 Veterans identified are three ladies and 21 gentlemen, all registered to receive a Certificate and Medallion.
"Please remember that all of our WW2 Veterans are 90 years plus now, with a number getting pretty close to being 100 years old," Kent said.
"Many are still serving their country by performing volunteer duties such as Mr Norm Ginn within the local hospital and RSL, Mr Lawrence Jennings several days every week at the Encounter Centre and Salvation Army, certainly all are very special Australians and we salute you.
"These outstanding Australians are the faces that will remind us of those mates, men and women who did not return, or those that returned physically and mentally injured and those that have passed since returning."
The federal government will provide WW2 Veterans with a Certificate, as well as a Medallion in memory of their service. The Certificate to be signed by the Governor General and the Prime Minister reads: 'A grateful nation expresses its sincere thanks for your service and contribution to the war effort and to the freedom of nations'.
"The local RSL supports many members from all conflicts including the latest in Iraq and Afghanistan, with men and women still returning home with physical and mental injuries and many are still serving in the conflict zones as we speak."
Details of the 75th Anniversary of VP Day on Saturday, August 15 will include the Town Crier and RSL conducting a 'Cry for Peace' that will be performed around the world at the same time at 11.05 AM. The location for this event is a marquee in front of the Victor Harbor Visitors Centre. On Wednesday, September 2 will be the Commemorative Service held at the RSL Roo's Facility at 12 noon, with Certificates and Medallions presented at 12.30pm.
