THE sound of the surf pounding on the beach, the smell of meat as it sizzled on the barbie, Advance Australia Fair being sung in the background and some sparkling classic Holdens all made the Australia Day event Mollymook special.
The crowd at this event today [January 26] showed that the Lions Club of Ulladulla Milton did the right thing by going ahead with the day when many other events had been called off due to COVID-19.
The day started with a Welcome to Country performed by Aunty Neille Mooney.
The theme of Aunty Neille's talk was acceptance of all cultures and her message was a strong one.
The First Burrill-Ulladulla Sea Scout then conducted the flag-raising ceremony, which was a proud moment of them.
Lion Jenny Leyshon led the National Anthem, accompanied by the Milton Town Band and everyone joined in.
The place was packed and people in their droves were walking around looking at all the displays and checking out the bargains at the market.
Australia Day ambassador Damien Leith had a big smile on his face and said he enjoyed being part of the Mollymook celebrations.
