Announcements have been made by some candidates and parties about their intentions to contest for council next year.
Cr Greg Watson has announced three candidates for the Shoalhaven Independent's ticket in ward one, with announcements for ward two and ward three candidates to come in the next few weeks.
So far they have announced Cr John Wells, Selena Clancy and Col Waller with a fourth candidate remaining "confidential".
As for the mayoral race, Cr Watson said it was a "possibility" he would run for the position and the Shoalhaven Independents are also considering nominating multiple candidates for Mayor.

It seems likely, for the first time ever, the Liberal Party will be running candidates for Shoalhaven City Council with the party holding a meeting on Wednesday night, October 9 to confirm their intention to put together a team. In the past local Liberals, including Gareth Ward, had been against the idea but have since changed their position.
Greg Watson said although the election was a while away announcing early was necessary.
"Even though we're 11 months away from an election that time will go very, very quickly and I need to get my candidates out there doorknocking and working," Cr Watson said.
"You don't get elected by sitting on your backside and waiting for the last minute."
Other parties are keeping their cards close to their chest or are in the process of finding suitable candidates.
Although Joanna Gash lashed out at the idea of joining a Liberal Party ticket, when asked if she was going to organise her own ticket or run for mayor she did not have a comment.
For the Greens, it's likely Mayor Amanda Findley will seek to run for the position again but no candidates have been confirmed as they haven't run their preselection.
Last council election was the first time Country Labor had decided to run candidates. But they were only able to vet enough candidates to run in two wards and had one candidate, Cr Annette Alldrick, elected.
From speaking to local party organisers, Country Labor is hoping to run candidates in all wards and a mayoral candidate but won't just fill empty places.
