Damon Gameau, well known for making the documentary/drama That Sugar Film in 2014, sent a video of support for the Manyana Matters group to use as part of their campaign to save a piece of land from being bulldozed.
Damon talks about the reasons why the vital piece of land the group is trying to save should be protected.
"So if we can create change at this local level we can show other people how it's done," he said.
His most recent film, 2040, is a documentary is a letter to his four-year-old daughter showing her what the world could look like in 2040 if we put into action the best solutions to many of our environmental challenges.
He was nominated for NSW Australian of the Year in 2020 for his work in creating 'the Regeneration' movement which is associated with his film 2040.
Gameau joins Australian actress Claudia Karvan and 'The Book Thief' author Markus Zusak as supporters of the Manyana Matters campaign.
Meanwhile, the land is still far from being saved from development.
Manyana Matters, last week, did get an undertaking from the developer that they would get 14 days notice when the clearing would start.
Environmental studies at the site are continuing and the community-based campaign is also ongoing.
